Jessica & Patrick

Jessica and Patrick met in an unconventional way. Jess was traveling solo to Maui, Hawaii and met Pat and his two friends in the hostel they were staying at. From that moment on, they explored the island together. They traveled the Road to Hana, a 12-kilometer hike by a volcano, went to the beach and a brewery.

After Pat got home, he continued to think about Jess because there was something special about her. They continued to communicate and a couple of months later they decided to start a long-distance relationship where they would take turns visiting each other in Michigan or Illinois. After a discussion of next steps, Pat decided to move to Chicago to continue to grow their relationship. Since then, they’ve become best friends and have had fun showing each other their state, their family and their traditions.

Pat and Jess’s proposal was very intimate. Pat took Jess and her mom to the beauty salon for a girl’s day out. Jess’s mom had not gotten a chance to go out since the start of the COVID-19 shutdown so that was very special time. When they were looking their best, Pat took them home and prepared a wonderful dinner. Towards the end of the day, Pat asked Jess’s mom in Spanish for her daughter’s hand in marriage. She started crying and said yes and then he went on one knee and popped the question to which Jess said YES!

A few of Jess and Pat’s favorite memories from their time together: traveling to Cartagena, trying different restaurants in Chicago, exploring different areas of Michigan during a pandemic and getting their parrot, Maui, an adorable green cheek conure.
